Respiratory and Voice Disorders

‘If you need help breathing right, you surely need help living right.’
-- Dr Javed Hingora,
Founder of the STEPS Program© and The KIDS Protocol©

One of the first changes in the body on experiencing an emotion is a change in breathing pattern. Breath is perhaps the most fluidly affected function in sync with all types of emotions, from something magnificent enough to ‘take one’s breath away’ to having a ‘sigh of relief’, our body changes the pace and type of breathing as life itself flows through the ravines of emotions and experiences. Voice, on the other hand, rides on this power of breath, making it possible to express ourselves with a complex vibration pattern of the voice box, giving life to our emotions, making it possible for others to understand how we feel.

Holistic view of disorders related to these vital functions is very different from the conventional chemical treatment approach. We believe that negative feelings and emotions play a crucial role in producing a background, facilitating the emergence of disorders related to these organs. There are countless anecdotes about people losing their voice after experiencing extreme anger. Even though they did not scream or damage their vocal cords; on the contrary, they could not ‘express’ their anger adequately, and that suppressed anger affected their ability to talk. On interviewing people suffering from asthma, it is nearly always found that they feel unloved or uncared for.

Some common conditions linked to respiration and voice organs that can be helped holistically with the STEPS Program© are:

Breathing Disorders:

  1. Allergic bronchitis (also see Allergies)
  2. Allergic cough
  3. Asthma
  4. Breathlessness on exertion (without any disease or abnormality)
  5. Chronic bronchitis
  6. Heaviness on chest
  7. Hyperventilation
  8. Nervous breathlessness
  9. Nervous cough
  10. Recurrent chest infections or bronchitis (also see Immune System Disorders)
  11. Sleep apnoea
  12. Snoring

Voice Disorders: (also see Ear Nose and Throat Disorders)

  1. Changed voice
  2. Difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia)
  3. Hoarse voice
  4. Laryngitis
  5. Lost voice
  6. Mucus in throat
  7. Vocal cord paralysis
  8. Vocal cord polyps

The treatment is aimed at resolving the real issues causing symptoms rather than just managing the symptoms. The use of chemical medications is minimized and the body is stimulated to enable restoration of normal functioning. The primary treatment method used is homeopathic remedies in combination with naturopathic supplements.

How We Treat

The treatment approach can be summarized in 3 words.

Know. Heal. Evolve.

To truly heal, one must first know oneself, and all that causes one’s disease. For, it is only after true healing that one evolves to their full potential.

Step 1

Know

Diagnosis

Using the Health-O-Meter© Analysis, the first step is to know what needs to be treated or changed. This analysis reveals the following about the person:

  • The person’s unique personality type, body type, sensitivities and associated factors involved in causing this disorder.
  • The current health status based on an analysis of genetic history, birth history, medical history, laboratory tests and evaluation by various holistic experts.
  • Lifestyle factors like diet, sleep, exercise, toxins that contribute to the condition.
  • All therapies, interventions and changes needed to heal and restore normal functioning naturally.
Step 2

Heal

Treatment

  • One or more of the appropriate natural therapies are employed from the STEPS Program© and Philolife therapies, to treat the problem and its core causes.
  • Periodic assessments are done to ensure progress and permanency of healing.
Step 3

Evolve
